Hostplus, a prominent Australian superannuation fund, has announced the extension of its group insurance partnership with MetLife Australia until June 2028.
This collaboration, which began in 2013, aims to provide comprehensive insurance coverage to Hostplus members, including Death, Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD), and Income Protection insurance.

David Elia, CEO of Hostplus, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating that it offers a pathway to strengthen collaboration and deliver innovative and enhanced offerings to members. The extended agreement is expected to unlock new opportunities to elevate servicing models across claims and underwriting, ultimately delivering stronger outcomes for Hostplus members.

Members have already experienced benefits from this partnership, such as lower premiums, improved insurance terms, and a more personalised claims experience. Currently, over 865,000 Hostplus members have access to group insurance through this collaboration.

MetLife Australia CEO Richard Nunn expressed pride in the enduring partnership, emphasizing a shared commitment to delivering seamless, personalised insurance experiences that uplift member outcomes. He noted that MetLife's vision to be the leading digital insurer focuses on delivering insurance service excellence to support Australians throughout their life with sustainable life insurance cover.

Hostplus has outlined key changes to its insurance offering in a Significant Event Notice to members in August 2024. Further enhancements are planned over the coming 12 months to support improved member value and experience.

For members, this extended partnership signifies a continued commitment to providing cost-effective and comprehensive insurance solutions within their superannuation fund. It also reflects the evolving landscape of life insurance in Australia, where superannuation funds play a crucial role in offering group insurance to their members.

As the industry continues to adapt to changing regulatory requirements and consumer expectations, partnerships like that of Hostplus and MetLife Australia demonstrate a proactive approach to meeting the needs of Australian workers seeking financial security for their families.
