Upcover's New Insurance Solutions for Australian Nurses

Sydney-based insurtech company Upcover has unveiled a new professional indemnity and public liability insurance product tailored specifically for nurses across Australia.
This initiative aims to provide comprehensive coverage that meets the unique needs of nursing professionals, including nurse practitioners, in-patient nurses, doulas, and nursing students.

The insurance product offers coverage limits of up to $20 million and includes protection against various risks such as physical injury, errors of judgment, negligence, defamation, and breaches of privacy legislation. Notably, it covers services like IV infusions, cosmetic injectables, and respite care, addressing the diverse scope of nursing practices.

Understanding the financial constraints that many nurses face, Upcover has introduced flexible monthly payment options, making it more accessible for individuals to obtain necessary coverage without significant upfront costs. This approach aligns with the requirements set by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), ensuring that nurses comply with professional standards.

Skye Theodorou, CEO and co-founder of Upcover, emphasized the importance of this product in supporting Australia's 350,000-strong nursing workforce. By offering a tailored insurance solution, Upcover aims to empower nurses to perform their duties with confidence, knowing they are adequately protected against potential liabilities.

For nursing professionals, this development presents an opportunity to secure insurance that aligns closely with their specific roles and responsibilities. It also underscores the growing trend of insurtech companies developing specialized products to meet the needs of various professional sectors.
